G'day Samsung Members!

I'm chuffed to share my latest project: transforming my trusty old Samsung S22 Ultra into my go-to pocket camera for casual, street, and event-friendly photography. This journey has been a cracker, pushing the S22 Ultra to its limits while having a bit of fun along the way. Here’s the lowdown on how I’ve kitted it out and the accessories that have made it a ripper tool for snapping photos.

The Phone: Samsung S22 Ultra

The S22 Ultra, with its whopping 512GB of storage, is a beast for photography. It lets me shoot RAW images to my heart's content without the dreaded “storage full” message popping up. One of the best features of the S22 Ultra is its QuickShare capability, which lets me quickly flick the images over to my Fold 6 for editing and posting. Talk about convenience!

The camera setup, featuring 0.6x, 1x, 3x, and 10x optical zoom, is like having a whole camera crew in your pocket. No need for extra lenses – this little beauty covers everything from wide landscapes to close-ups of a kangaroo's nose.

Accessories for Enhanced Photography

  1. Case: I grabbed a silicon transparent case from Kmart for a bargain $2.5. To jazz it up, I added a MagSafe Ring from Daiso for an extra $3. This combo not only keeps the phone safe from drops (and trust me, I've had a few near misses), but the lanyard slot is a lifesaver. Last thing you want is your phone going for a dive off a cliff because of a sudden gust of wind!

  2. JJC Universal MagSafe Bluetooth Camera Grip: This little gadget has been a game-changer. It has a built-in stand and a tripod screw mount, making the S22 Ultra as easy to handle as a cup of coffee on a Monday morning. The removable Bluetooth trigger means I can set the phone up and snap away without the awkward timer countdown. Perfect for avoiding the “running back into frame” look!

  3. Joby MagSafe Mirror and LED Ring Light: This one's for all the night owls out there. The LED ring light is way better than the phone's built-in flash, providing a soft, diffused light that makes everything look schmick. Plus, the mirror with an articulating arm means I can take selfies with the rear cameras (because, let's be honest, they’re way better). No more guessing if I’m in the shot!

The Apps: Capturing and Editing

For taking photos, I stick with the trusty Samsung Camera app – it’s like it was made for the S22 Ultra (because, well, it was). It’s got all the bells and whistles I need to get the perfect shot every time.

For editing, I use Adobe Lightroom. It's like having a digital darkroom in your pocket. For those quick edits and a bit of retro flair, I turn to the Old Roll app. This app is brilliant for adding film simulations, giving my photos that classic vibe. My favourites are the Lecia M Classic, Classic Q, 503CW, and Hexar – they make even a shot of my morning coffee look like a masterpiece.

Conclusion

This project has been a blast, turning my old S22 Ultra into a versatile and reliable pocket camera. With the phone's powerful camera, nifty accessories, and top-notch apps, I've got everything I need to capture life's moments on the go.

Stay tuned for more updates as I continue to test out this setup. If you've got any questions or just want to have a chat, drop a comment below!

Happy snapping, and may your photos always be in focus!

Your story is so good I can't help but wonder if there are other forums you can tell it on. May be camera specific forums or may be one that is specific to Samsung. Google?
