When connecting to Wi-Fi on your Android phone, you might encounter the “Obtaining IP Address” error occasionally. The “Obtaining IP Address” error is more common than you may think. You get this error because your router can’t assign your Android device an IP address after you’ve entered the password.
Your Android device will try to connect once again to see if it can get the IP address it failed to get the first time. It will continue to do this until it’s able to get that IP address. This could go on for hours.
