Message Retention

How many days is the retention of messages in message application. Does the number of messages affect the retention period?

I did found this setting. However the message thread could only backread up until March of this year I thought it could retain messages since Ive used the phone. 🙂

as long as you don't turn on the auto delete option sms should stay on your inbox until you delete it.
