Galaxy NoteSo I'm left with disabling it and using PIN.
I am now backing up my data via Smart Switch, as I intend to bring this unit to the Samsung Store again.
The Note 9 with the physical fingerprint scanner at the back still works like magic till now....

Galaxy NoteI think my new post today can further shed light on what happened.
Well, it took a few minutes of tinkering with my unit before the tech guy came back to recommend factory resetting which I readily consented to (I knew it!). Anyways, I already anticipated for such eventuality and I already backed up all data thru Smart Switch a day prior.
I decided to leave the unit to them, and then I got a call informing me that the problem persisted after the reset and they concluded it's a HW issue and so they have to change parts. The unit will have its anniversary this September yet, so it still qualifies for a warranty service.

Galaxy NoteI even initially seriously thought it had also to do with my fingers, coz a few times even the bundy clock at the office would not recognize me (made me ask if I'm a ghost already LOL).
But when it's already the Samsung tech guy reporting he met the problems too when he inputted his own fingerprints into my unit, then I got reassured...

Galaxy NoteMeanwhile, I had to plop my SIM with my 21 yr old number to my previous phablet, an openlined, Globe-provided Note 9 DS, which also had another Globe sim that I subscribed during their unli-everything (4GB data tho) promo last month - GPlan 599 sim-only.
While at that store, I received an update for Note 9 which I downloaded and installed.
I don't know yet what changed 🙂
So now I am back to this old Note, which for me has the best-ever fingerprint scanner (with a dedicated interface at the back).
I may (temporarily) miss the advanced camera and UI features of the N20U, but since admittedly, 80% of the time, my mobile phones are just for calls, texts and messages and social media and handy reference databank, the sepanx would not be that troublesome.
And please bear with me as I belabor the fact that Note9 has this Pulse Oximeter feature that the N20U doesn't have. (Or is there?)

Galaxy NoteA am worried now, after the tech guy told me that I should be careful this time coz with the repairs/replacements that they did, my unit has lost its original waterproof feature!
Is this true??
I thought all features will be restored if warranty is served by Samsung?
Kinda sad if this is true, coz in the first place the original issue was something of a factory defect and not user's negligence - a nonfunctioning sensor within the warranty period.
Still in the process of restoring files now.....
