I just got my new 24 ultra yesterday and I can not add a fingerprint, it will not even start the sensor and just closes the screen. Spent 4 hrs chatting to Samsung support tried everything. They want me to take it in... I feel like this is a software issue... what should I do wait and hope the next release fixes it or take it in... so annoyed don't have time for this.

Have you tried the hardware test, via the Members app?

Tap the support tab, then try phone diagnostics.

The other, painful option is to factory reset, do a basic set up and try the fingerprints again.

Thanks for the reply, yes I factory reset the phone twice now.

Have you tried the diagnostic tool?
You may need to take it in.

I have no issue with my fingerprint scanner, and I'm using the latest update. Friends in the Members community haven't noted any issues with their S24 devices after the recent update.
