Speaker/Sound Quality

So the other day I posted about washing my Note 20 Ultra under running water because of a food boo-boo. Didn't see or notice any issues after that, however after I installed the Core update I noticed something off. The sound quality of my phone seems like it decreased. Some videos are loud still, but some videos I previously watched now sound a lot softer. I'm not sure if it's failing auditory reception due to myself turning another year old🤣 or if something has actually changed. It's barely noticeable but I'd like to think I have a good ear, and that I'm able to notice that something seems off sound-wise.

Diagnostics say speakers are normal. Anyone who has a N20U experiencing this as well?

Hello there! There are a few things that can cause issues with the speaker while you are on call or listening to audio playback through your Galaxy phone. For example, there could be an external device where the audio is being redirected. It's also possible that a software problem or physical damage is causing the issue.

Hi there 😊, Based on the description of your post I think this is normal to a certain extent. I'm using an S21 Ultra, and did notice the audio to go up and down depending on the video and I think this is perfectly fine mainly of one simple idea.

" How was the video made? "

Not all videos have the same audio level, and in some cases may give the impression that some are loud and some has a low audio level despite setting the volume to max.

To test this, go to settings and play with the volume levels of your phone with the ringtone slider, if you're getting that same loudness then you're assured that there isn't anything wrong with the audio of the phone.

This also applies with playing music be it a native file or on streaming platforms like Spotify, sometimes artists record at a much lower frequency (depending on when it was released) which may give the impression the audio level sounds low despite being on max volume 😊.

I'll try that ringtone slider you mentioned. Thanks for the tip!
