Greetings.
While shooting Father's Day photos with the default 12MP on S24 Ultra, I tapped on the subject I wanted most focused and was.surprised when, instead of the usual cicular symbol, a square appeared and there was no way to.manually adjust brightness like we used to. Upon checking with the 50MP and 200MP, the circular cursor/symbol remains along with brightness adjustment. Anyone else run into this? If so, can someone please explain. Thank you in advance.

Note: First time encountering this. Used to be that the 12MP had the circular cursor and brightness adjustment when you tap.to focus. Only thing I can think of is this change took place after the latest update.

The square icon means the Tracking Autofocus is in use. Disable it in the camera settings if you don't want it.1718582310835_1718582310823_0.png

Thank you - removed the Tracking AF and the circle control is back!

You did get what you wanted the face focus lock and track. The circle AE+AF with an option to decrease or increase exposure on auto is the default. Tap AND hold until it turns yellow to indicate a lock. I think it locks DoF, too.

Thank you - the tap AND HOLD did it. When I adjust the brightness either up or down, is it locked when the circle is yellow? Coz it used to be, we had to manually lock it with the lock icon.

The lock icon will change too after the color goes to yellow. I can't remember if there's a need to re-tap it though to lock.
