Hey there, does anyone know how to set my Google account as the default save location for all new contacts I make in the Phone app?

It keeps defaulting to the Phone storage and I have to select Google account manually every time.

I have looked this up but I can't seem to find the 'set default storage location' option in 'Manage contacts' in the Contacts app.

Currently running android 12 / One UI 4.0 on an S21 Ultra.

Thanks!

All my contacts are on my Google account, but it still defaulted to the Phone storage. I have switched to the Google Contacts app and it's all good now. Thanks anyway!

Close contacts, then use system settings > Apps > Contacts > Storage > Clear data.  Open contacts, create a new contact, and it will ask where to save it to.  This becomes the new default location and it won't prompt you again unless you clear data again.

I think Samsung has broken things because there used to be a "Default storage location" option under the contacts menu > Manage contacts but it got removed at some point. That menu could be used to set a default location or to ask it to prompt you each time a contact was created.

@Winterdragoness. That worked for me as well (but in the opposite direction).

Thanks.
