Galaxy STo my fellow devoted Samsung users, if you own a Samsung phone (especially the newer models S20 series onwards), to save yourself some trouble and mental energy, DO NOT DO A SOFTWARE UPDATE or simply change your phone to another phone brand.
On 11th December, my 1.5 year old S22 prompted me to conduct a software update. So I made the software update and within MINUTES, 3 very visible lines appeared on my phone despite me not dropping, hitting or doing any physical damage to my phone.
Being frustrated, I tried to do some basic rebooting by restarting my S22, off-ing and on-ing it but nothing works.
The next thing I knew, I was searching online and found out that many have encountered this same problem! But they managed to successfully have their phone screens replaced by Samsung at a low cost (less than S$70). So, on 13th Dec, I found my way to the nearest Samsung service center, in hopes that this issue could be resolved by proper professionals. Unfortunately, I was met with nothing but DISAPPOINTMENT!
The service staff took a look at my S22, and came back charging me with close to SGD$300 for MERELY replacing the phone screen claiming the 3 green lines were of a hardware problem and that my phone was no longer under warranty (my phone's warranty ended in March 2024 btw, not even two years old)! THIS WAS DESPITE MY CONTINUOUS REPETITION THAT IT HAPPENED AFTER A SOFTWARE UPDATE.
I tried my very best to explain that I have been taking extremely good care of my phone, no scratches or dents to it (they can see it for themselves). How can not one, but THREE green lines appear? Coincidentally after I did a software update? It all doesn't add up. I insisted on a proper explanation for the cause of the green lines but the staff just insisted that it was a hardware issue and then directed me to call the Samsung service hotline instead.
I spoke to a kind lady on the hotline but once again I was met with disappointment that I will have to pay the full amount and they can't offer anything cheaper! Instead they gave me a promo code for the latest S24 ultra model, but I don't want a new phone. I am very contented with my current S22 and have NO INTENTIONS of changing my phone especially since the phone is not even 2 years old and the green lines were not caused by me.
Since Samsung doesn't seem to want to take ownership for this issue, I am reaching out to my fellow users who also encountered this unfortunate issue to please advise me on what should I do.
P.S, after my S22, I am most definitely switching to other products because this whole experience has been nothing but disappointment. I am truly upset with Samsung.

Galaxy Sbro, i know someone never update their phone software, they still suffer green line
green line is not cause by software update, it cause by heat generated from the phone body, it's wise to take away your phone case whenever you charge the phone or when update your phone software

Galaxy S
It is very obvious that this is manufacturing defect and yet Samsung washes their hands instead of taking the responsibility as a reputed manufacturer>
This makes the difference between Apple and Samsung where the former will standby its product even after the warranty period if the problem is due to manufacturing defects.
