Just bought the Samsung s21.  Using Dual Sim to personal and work number. But when setting the SIM card preference of this dual SIM phone, there is no option to always ask which SIM to send an SMS from. I can only select either to use SIM 1 or SIM 2. Can someone help as I keep using my personal number to send work texts?

I know you can select in the messaging app to flick between personal/work - but it doesn't stick and keeps reverting to default (and yes default is set to personal, but would like the option to modify work contacts to default to work number)

Hi, preferred SIM cards can be set for both phone calls and text messages separately. The steps to set a Preferred SIM are as follows:

- Preferred SIM for Phone calls: Contacts app⋮ > edit your contact settings to choose a preferred SIM to call from.

- Preferred SIM for Messages: Open Messages > Click conversation you would like to set preferred SIM > ⋮ > Toggle SIM1 or SIM2 to set it as default.

If your conversations or contacts do not have a preferred SIM via these settings, it will use the Default SIM set in your SIM card manager. Your SIM card manager can be found via Settings > Connections > SIM card manager.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply.

In regards to following the below, this is exactly what I have tried. Though once I toggle to the preferred SIM, exit the conversation and go back into it - it keeps going back to the default setting (what is originally linked to the conversation).

- Preferred SIM for Messages: Open Messages > Click conversation you would like to set preferred SIM > ⋮ > Toggle SIM1 or SIM2 to set it as default.

Not sure if it's the phone or a glitch associated with it.

Hi, thank you for that information. I would suggest if you're still having this issue to send an error report through our Samsung Members app so that our team can see if it is an issue with your device specifically. To send an error report, please see the guide here: https://r1.community.samsung.com/t5/tips-tricks/sending-error-reports/td-p/9617204

Let me know if you have any additional questions. :)

No worries, thanks for that. I will follow up through Samsung Members.

I'm having the same issue. Wonder if they will change this one day. In a previous version the Samsung message app simply had two send buttons so you hit the one you want. It was so easy but they took it away. And I haven't found any other app that works nicely with dual Sim SMS.

Hi @mici2012, I am sorry to hear this issue persists. Could you please send an error report with more recent log data.

Error reports assist with identifying any deviations in your device performance. Once analysed, our team will get back to you with a response to advise further steps.

To send an error report:
Samsung Members app > Get help > Error reports > select issue category > Describe issue and frequency > Tick ‘Send system log data’ > ‘Send’ in top right.
