Hi there, I've just bought a brand new sealed s20 plus 5g and no matter what settings I choose, the display won't go above 60hz. I can turn motion smoothness on and off with no difference. "show refresh rate" developer setting shows it changing from 60 to 120 but my eyes can tell its not working. Testufo.com confirms its only 60fps. Phone has latest software and I have tried resetting. It's a real shame as the 120hz display is one of the main reasons I bought this phone. Could anyone still using an s20 check and see if they are having the same issue?

As I said in the op, it doesn't matter whether 120hz (high motion smoothness) is enabled in settings or not, it makes no difference to the actual displayed framerate and motion is not smooth because it's stuck at 60. I was looking for anyone who might have had the same problem/solution. Samsung support just told me to reset my phone which I've already done.

If you search in google, you will see that there are also some people experienced the same with their S20. You can check the solutions they tried and what worked. I see someone says that using 3rd party app Galaxy Max Hz resolved his issue. He installed it, use it a bit then uninstall and the out of the box refresh rate now works.

Also note that Samsung have restrictions on the refresh rate for S20, like it doesn't work on maximum resolution, goes back to standard refresh rate if phone is hot, and also works on normal usage and not in games etc.
