My camera has stopped focusing when using the camera app, snapchat app, or any app with photo. It has just randomly happened, and has no visible significant damage or new damage on the lense.

I have tried several solutions found on google but still nothing works, so happy to try everything again.

If I force the camera view onto something either close up or large enough far away it will after a little while finally focus, but definitely not when I touch the screen or automatically on start up.

Unfortunately I am in the top end of Australia with no Samsung service centre available for days.

Appreciate help as camera is a big feature if why I have this phone!

Cheers

Hi... Hope these things might help if you haven't tried yet.

First, try to reset the camera settings. (Open camera > select settings > Scroll down > reset settings)

If you're in a position to factory reset, try a factory reset. If not, try the camera from safe mode ( you can watch how to turn on and off your device from Safe mode - https://youtu.be/yxah_OUy840 )

Basically in the Safe mode, your device will be running only with default apps. This means if this focusing issue is cause by an app/s, we can find out.

But if the issue is still persists even after the reset or in the safe mode, probably it's because of a hardware issue. In that case you have to go to a Samsung service center for expert help.

Hi Ranod! Thank you for the suggestions and guidance. I've tried resetting the settings and using ins are mode, unfortunately still an issue. Unable to factory reset at the moment but will look to do this and if still an issue will take to a service centre.

Appreciate the help

Hey @deano94

I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. I suggest sending an error report within 2-3 minutes of the issue occurring for this to be investigated by our research and development team. Error reports assist with identifying any deviations in your device performance. Once analyzed, our team will get back to you with a response to advise further steps.

To send an error report:
Samsung Members app > Support > Error reports > select issue category > Describe issue and frequency > Tick ‘Send system log data’ > ‘Send’ in top right.

Kind Regards,

SamsungClaudette
