Hi Samsung and other proud owners for Samsung S21 Ultra

I recently noticed that my cloud storage was running out of space rather quickly. When I checked what was going on, I found out that for some reason, my screenshots and screen recording folders were also getting backed up to my cloud. I found it very odd as I have several android devices - OnePlus, Huawei and Xiaomi - where these folders were never inside DCIM folder. I have other Android 12 on other device and couple on Android 11 - I can confirm that its only Samsung S21 (One UI 4) is saving the screen recording and Screenshots into DCIM.

This is a problem.

Not only that - there is no way I can find settings to change the location of Screenshots and Screen recording within the Phone or App settings.

Note - I am a gaming enthusiast and I record contents for 3+ hours a day - the files are anywhere between 5GB to 15GB - I cannot afford these files to be backed up along with my usual Camera PIcs/Vids

I own the 512GB variant of S21 Ultra

Note 2 - I have given a thought to move Camera Storage outside DCIM folder and enable backup for that - unfortunately Camera app doesn't have the option to move the camera storage to a different Folder in the phone.

Request your earnest intervention for a quick resolution

Thanks

Hi @mrn2020, I suggest sending this feedback through as an error report within 2-3 minutes of the issue occurring for this to be investigated. Error reports are sent to our team to identify any deviations in your device performance, once analysed, our team will get back to you with a response to advise further.

To send an error report:

Samsung Members > Get help > Error reports > select issue category > describe issue and frequency > Tick ‘send system log data’ > Send in top right.

What app are your vids being backed up to?

I've the fold 3 and a21s. They also save screenshots/screen recording into DCIM (but within their own folders).

In saying that, Google Photos allow you to back up specific folders. So it might some settings within the cloud backup app you use.

Unfortunately, it's the same I'm seeing for Google photos as well as Adrive

Seems like it hasn't changed for a while...

In saying that, you may want to try this workaround:

https://www.solvemix.com/index.php/en/year-2019/samsung-galaxy-s9-screenshot-change-location-tip.htm...

I haven't done this, so I can't guarantee it working.

Hope the workaround does work!

This won't work. Even in S21 there was an option to save camera pictures but now there is none, The options in galaxy s9 are very different from phones.

Hi,

I agree: there should be an option for the user to set the screenshot folder. I backup my photos to Google and I don't want screentshots to be part of that.
