I have a Galaxy S3 and S5 as technical backup phones and both worked perfectly on 3G.

Vodafone recently dumped 3G so I checked my 2 phones for 4G.   Both within their config report 4G access capability but the S5 does not get 4G

The S3 is model GT-19305T with Android 4.4.4 and happily works on 4G

The later S5 is model SM-G900i with Android 6.0.1 and will NOT work on 4G despite claiming within the phone that it can.

Any ideas anyone?

Looking at GSM arena forthat phone,

https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s5-6033.php

Looks like that has a Max of LTE which is only 3G.

Looks like you are out of luck, no 4g

So surprised that the S3 is connecting though. That is listed as LTE only.

I have a Vodafone Volte S5 phone from new and its just about impossible to use now. This happens to virtually all Android as they get old the Apps are so large now the phone takes forever to load and battery drains fast (even with genuine new S5 Battery).
And yes 2G and 3G are dead, only 4G capable.
