How to add a child account

I have purchased a new Samsung phone for my child under 18. I'm unable to create a Samsung account for them even though they have a Google account.

What are the steps for setting this phone up for them to use?

The internet claims there should be an area under my own phone in Samsung account to create family members but it is not there.

If you are talking about this https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00091962/ , unfortunately it's not yet available in Australia. Been waiting for it for a long time too.

Best alternative is create a Google kid account for your kid and manage it via Google Family Link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.kids.familylink

Already have that set up but unable to use things like Samsung health and all the other things we expect when we purchase a premium phone from Samsung

What do you mean by Samsung Health not working? Is it showing not available on your device? What's the model of your phone?

You can't use any of the Samsung apps without a login

Ahh get it now. Yeah no choice but to create a Samsung account also for your kid.

Really hoping companies stop this staggered release. They announce these features, then will not be available for all. 🤦
