I recently purchased a Samsung S22 Ultra and am struggling trying to find a way to transfer files from the Ultra to a Macbook pro or, alternatively, to a Samsung SSD external hard drive (T5).

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi @FJProenza, if you are looking to backup your data on your device, I suggest trying Smart Switch to backup to your computer.

Another alternative would be using an application on your computer such as Android File Transfer or similar apps that are compatible with your current Mac OS.

I had always used Android File Transfer with my Note 8 quite effectively. For some reason it was no longer working with the Ultra. Perhaps other programs I had downloaded (e.g. Smart Switch) was interfering with Android File Transfer.

After much trial and error I decided to start from scratch. Deleted old version of Android File Transfer and deleted Smart Switch. Reinstalled Android File Transfer and Used the original cable as you suggested and it worked beautifully.

Many thanks.

It's the easiest ever. When you plug the phone with the original cable, you should get a notification to allow your computer to access the phone.

Then simply browse the files via your file Explorer on the computer. That's it. Drag and drop files from your phone to computer and vice versa.

Apple phones on the other hand...convert movies to mp4...drag music to iTunes music folder to sync...exporting photos via some other program. Eughhhh

Eventually, the best solution I found was to  use the Android File Transfer.app. At first I feared this would not work with the Samsung, but it does.
