Android Auto instability before/after Samsung UI updates, has anyone else experienced this?

I am raising an ongoing Android Auto reliability issue that I have experienced repeatedly on Samsung devices, and I am interested to know whether other users are encountering the same problem.

From time to time, I enter my car (Renault Megane EV 2024) either shortly before or shortly after a Samsung system or UI update, and Android Auto will simply fail to connect or operate. Historically, I have followed a workaround that has usually (but not always) resolved the issue:

Allow the Samsung system/UI update to complete (even though I have little choice in the matter).

Go to Settings → Apps → Android Auto.

Clear cache and data/storage.

Open the Play Store, check for Android Auto updates, and install any available updates.

Restart the phone.

This process was taken directly from guidance on the official Android Auto forums and has worked almost every time, except today.

Today, Android Auto unexpectedly stopped working while I was actively driving in Sydney city traffic. This was not just inconvenient; it was genuinely dangerous, as navigation and hands-free functionality dropped out without warning.

Key concerns:
Android Auto appears tightly coupled to Samsung OS/UI updates, yet breaks unpredictably after them.

The “fix” requires manual cache clearing, data deletion, Play Store updates, and restarts, steps that are not realistic or safe if the failure occurs while driving.

Today’s failure persisted even after following the established recovery process.

Questions for the community:
Has anyone else experienced Android Auto failing immediately before or after Samsung updates?

Has Android Auto stopped working mid-drive for anyone else?

Are there more stable or permanent fixes, or settings that reduce this behaviour?

Is Samsung aware of the safety implications when Android Auto drops out unexpectedly?

I am keen to understand whether this is a broader Samsung - Android Auto integration issue or something device-specific, and whether there is a safer, more reliable solution.

On top of this the ever constant your Samsung Account keeps stopping and the response from Samsung that a permanent fix is on the way and to just shut down OneDrive (which I use off my phone a lot) has made this a very frustrating few days!

** Samsung Advice: We have identified that the latest version of the OneDrive app may have compatibility issues with the Samsung account app, causing this issue to occur.

**A permanent solution will be released via an app update very soon.**

Thanks in advance for any insights or shared experiences.

Also having issues. Following the recent software update the screen in my vehicle is completely black when connected to Android auto. Did all the usual troubleshooting to no avail. Really need this fixed ASAP so I can use it for  navigation.
