hi all, just a query about linked contacts.maybe silly question but if you link two or more separate contacts does that mean when you send a text message everyone can read it or do you have to create a group and then they all can read messages?

Hi @Greaser, are you referring to the Messages app? To my knowledge, linking contacts only merges them under one contact profile. To message them, you still need to select which phone number to message.

Unfortunately SMS does not have the capability to create group messages and will send it to each contact individually over SMS when you select multiple contact.

However, Samsung/Android devices use their own Rich Communication Service (RCS) that allows group chats within the Messages app.

If you would like to message multiple people in the same conversation by creating a group chat, I suggest using RCS messaging, or 3rd party apps such as Messenger, WhatsApp, or Viber.

Hope this helps :)

yes.so linked contacts from google account and whatsapp just links them to each app so you can find them in the list for that app..(i think)if you link one contact to another in the same app does that mean they both get the messages you just send to one person or you have to create a group broadcast or something?.

Hi @Greaser, the message will go to one phone number listed under the Contact profile. When initiating a message you will need to choose which phone number to send it to even if you type the contact name.

You will have to create a group while on RCS (provided your contact also has RCS enabled) or use 3rd party apps such as WhatsApp.
