I know this is not the right place to vent out. A green line just popped out on my screen without any reason I can think off. I placed my phone over head when I sleep and after waking up there's a faint thin line. After a couple of hours it became prominent and now it's annoying to look at the screen since it in the middle. I purchased the phone back on March 2022, S22 model 256GB and my very first flagship phone.

I love the design, the size in my hand, performance is superb and it's really gorgeous. Purchased and installed a case and screen protector and I also invested on other samsung devices to utilize their ecosystem (e.g. galaxy buds 2, pro 2, watch 4). I took really good care of the phone, never wanted it to be splashed with any liquid even with the ip resistant rating, never been dropped, didn't do any overnight charging, always prevent it from overheating but after 2 years of it's life span this green line issue popped out.

I researched it online, also found a group with the same issue and most of their devices are purchased during pandemic 2021-2022. Some said its due to a software update but I mine wasn't, it's very random. I brought it to the service center and explained that the line pops up out of nowhere.

The cs examined the phone, everything is pristine no damage or dents, just the normal wear on the black paint on the sides but I'm out of luck. She told me it's out of warranty even though I showed an article that Samsung from other countries acknowledged this issue and offered an out of warranty repair and others here locally also have similar defects. This isn't an isolated case since it's not just a handful of people but a lot of users. They the blame it as a user damage and quotes a $272 screen replacement fee.

Since I'm getting nowhere and pushing it isn't worth the time, I switched to a carrier promo Apple device. Probably my last device from Samsung. A very expensive phone that only lasts 2 years.

Already went there. Out of warranty since its already 2 years and funny thing is they mentioned it's a moisture issue. Option given is for a replacement screen with almost half the original price as stated on my post or just buy a new phone. I chose to switch brand.

Hi NeilOewen,

Thanks for sharing your issue. We understand your frustration. Green line issues are an AMOLED panel-specific issue (it's not just Samsung - Apple, OnePlus, iPhones, and any device that uses AMOLEDs) - usually caused by humidity, heat, and moisture. These factors may damage the display ribbon connecting your screen to the motherboard.

This is by no means any fault of yours - as you said, you take care of your device best you can, but external factors such as these still seep through and affect devices everywhere. The best thing you can do, as TeamGalaxyBianx said, is to visit a Samsung Service Center near you. I understand that it may be out of warranty, but it's cheaper to get this device repaired than purchase an entirely new phone (or migrate to an entirely new ecosystem.)

So are we just going to accept the fact that Samsung's flagship phones might barely last 2 or 3 years because of external factors even if there are no signs of damages due to mishandling? What good is your 4 or 7 years software support if the hardware won't even last that long? This is not an isolated case. And this also happened to my S21 Ultra just this week for no apparent reason. Never dropped or got the phone wet ever... in Samsung official case since day one... mostly just at home as I have S23 Ultra as well. The lack of genuine concern and resolution from the CS will definitely make me switch to Apple.

Then should it be addressed by Samsung since you know what causes the issue? I'd like to have it getting repaired, but the cost of it is nearly half the original srp price of the device.

I paid premium price for the phone and I expect it to give me at least a few years of service, not just 2. Bringing it to your repair center and just dismissing my frustration and emphasizing its a users fault, without offering any alternate option made me decide to switch to Apple.

Even if we replace our screen this issue will happen after 3 months. That's what happened to my phone. How is repair less expensive??

I considered getting the S24 but reading past experience of other customers, that samsung flagship screens only last 2 years and lines (white, pink and green) will appear. I chose the 🍎

Samsung "don't" care. Imagine my disappointment on my newly bought Tab S9 ultra and 2 weeks in, less than 24hr or about 24hrs screen time use, i promise no dents or any physical damage then a dead pixel appears. Just after the update. 🤬
I demanded a replacement instead of repair. They simply say they cant and offer to fix it. UNACCEPTABLE.

My logic is simple. Its hardly wear and tear. I got a bad item whose symptom shows past the 7 days policy. Its your defective item.

This is ongoing battle for me. 6 days since i bought my tablet to a samsung service center and been makin emails to samsung care to have them change their recommendation. Samsung care doesn't care. I won't feel like i got a new device if they will just give me back a 'fixed' tablet. Your thoughts everyone?? Im sooo stressed. 😢
