Galaxy S
Hello,
I am currently using a Galaxy S22 Ultra (Korean model, SM-S908N) in Japan.
I would like to ask for advice regarding the following situation:
- Using a Japanese SIM card
- Language setting: Japanese
- Issue:
- I want to use the eSIM feature, but there is no eSIM option under [Settings > Connections > SIM card manager].
- When entering `*#06#`, the EID (eSIM identifier) does not appear.
- Confirmed information:
- The current CSC is "OKR" (Korean KT carrier-specific CSC).
- Concerns:
- The CSC may have changed after inserting the Japanese SIM, possibly disabling the eSIM feature.
- I’m also wondering if setting the device language to Japanese affects the availability of eSIM.
Questions:
1. Are there any specific steps or requirements to enable the eSIM functionality?
2. Do I need to insert a Korean SIM card once to activate eSIM?
3. If I change the CSC to "KOO" (Korean unlocked version), will I be able to use the eSIM feature?
If anyone has experienced a similar situation or has knowledge about this, I would really appreciate your advice.
Thank you very much!

Sorry, but your specific model is not esim compatible. This is likely due to old regional restrictions. This has been since amended, but because your phone was made before the esim function is locked. I'm not exactly sure if it is possible to unlock it or even if the esim chip is soldered on. I would suggest contacting samsung support for more info.

Apologies. I just checked and apparently the model you have does not have the physical chip required. If you really need esim. You can buy and s23 and up as the law was amended in sep 2022 before the s23 released.
