Galaxy SHi @aanthonyy, rather than using Silent mode, you will need to use Do Not Disturb in your settings and allow exceptions for the app of your choice.
To do this:
Settings > Notifications > Do not disturb > Allow exceptions > Apps > Add apps > Choose an app > Turn on all notifications.

I have a similar issue as OP. Do not disturb is great for at night when I'm sleeping but i have my phone set permanently on silent which dnd doesn't override.
We need the same customisations as the dnd exceptions within the silent function please
