I can hear something rattling when shaking my phone.. this is new. But I haven't dropped it extremly, just kind of gently and with a case. Nothing else seems weird/broken though.. Should I be concerned?

It's because of the Optical Image Stablization (OIS).

Hello christinedl,

I really understand why you are worried because your beloved Samsung Galaxy phone impacts on your daily lifestyle. But don't you worry, it is normal noise, just like our dear Samsung members' replies, due to the OIS lens vibration upon shaking. It does not affect your phone's function; just kindly do not shake it too hard as it could damage that component.

Hey christinedl,

Great answers here! Hope they ease your worries a bit. If you want a bit more context, this is it in a nutshell:

Optical image stabilization on your Galaxy device is achieved mechanically and digitally! The lens or sensor is suspended in a nifty mechanism that lets it stay stable regardless of the motion of the device. Footage taken by the lens is then further stabilized through software, leading to a super smooth, stable video output!

It's one of the reasons why the Galaxy S22 is so good at taking video 😄
