Would appreciate any tips on retrieving data (photos and videos) from a water damaged s20 + . The phone will not turn on and some data has unfortunately not been backed up. Is this something a specialist can retrieve?

I guess it depends what components are damaged. You must have been really unlucky for your s20 to get water damaged :(

Hi @MartiiT, due to our Privacy Policy, your device may be factory reset before being assessed.

In cases like these, as mentioned by @mattwellerphoto, it would also depend on what was damaged e.g the screen, internal storage, or battery.

Thank you @SamsungLaura. I took it to Samsung customer care centre yesterday and they said the motherboard is gone as it shows no activity when charging. Is there any way of retrieving the photos in this scenario? Or should I not bother trying?

Hi @MartiiT, while I cannot confirm for sure, typically if the internals are damaged it can be assumed that the photos were also damaged.

Do you use a Google/Gmail account on your phone? If so, I suggest checking the Google Photos website and logging in to your account to see if you had a backup set up.

What happens when you plug it into your pc? Does the pc recognise the phone as a drive? Can your pc recognise any folders on the phone?
