Recently I got myself an S22 Ultra (updated to the latest firmware/software, android 13). Everything worked alright except when I shared the internet (Telstra) from my phone to the S7 tablet; the hotspot seemed to switch off and on again when the signal changed between 5G and 4G. This is not obvious when you are just browsing the internet, but when you are in the video conference on the tablet, it gets interrupted all the time, and sometime the other parties can't hear my voice.

Has anyone had similar issues? I am trying to work out whether it is to do with the telecom signal not being stable enough or there is potentially something wrong with the phone; my previous S20 Ultra does not have this issue.

My current solution is to switch the 5G off and uses the 4G signal.

Your current solution is probably the best. It is possible that your phone to the internet is where the problem lies. 5G is not as good as it is cracked up to be, see the link to a YouTube video below. In the meantime, not relevant to this problem but relevant to phone calls, Google "Telstra wi-fi calling"

I had trouble with this url, if it doesn't work Google " Why 5G **bleep**"
To check the quality of your 5G connection load the app "Aus Phone Towers"

Bro you living in AUS, so give up the dream on using 5G for next 4 to 5 years. The telcos does not upgrade their infrastructure often as they supposed to, we are lucky enough to get stable 4G which has just been possible as they released the VOLTE2 recently for splitting voice and data.

But my previous phone was handling the connection well, so I suspect it could be an issue with the S22 or perhaps the latest firmware.

Other factors could also be at play, such as additional new users might have a stronger signal knocking you put, or a new building or even tree blocking your signal. If you watch that videp I referred to below you might realise ypur dowmload speed is poorer than your 4G download speed so using 4G is better. Do a speed test on each. Also check your APN settings as they are different to 4G and lower. Google "Telstra APN 5G settings". If changing them take care as the changes must be 100% accùrate e.g. spacing, caps0, etc.

@Therakez VoLTE has been here for a while now.
The terms VoLTE1 or VoLTE2 just refer to which sim is being used.

For example, my Flip4 shows VoLTE1 as it's using a sim card, while my S22U shows VoLTE2 as it's using e-Sim.

Edit: Voda at least seems to be upgrading to VoNR (Vo5G) as they move to 5G SA.

Still haven't seen/connected to Optus 5G SA yet though.

@Yueh there's a new update for the Samsung XSA model, hopefully this will help with the issues you're facing.

Do you think this is a firmware-related issue?

Besides a Network Reset and also lodging an error report, you could also try a factory reset.
