Hello Aj2208,

Welcome to Samsung!

Thanks for reaching out to us here in order to find out how to get the dual SIM (1 SIM from India & e-SIM from US) working on your beloved Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. I understand why you are getting worried after your several attempts to troubleshoot the issue but to no avail. If it's happening on my device, I will be concerned too.

Your device includes an eSIM which functions as a SIM card. You can use the mobile network after activating the eSIM or installing a nano-SIM card. You can both activate the eSIM and install a nano-SIM card so you can have two phone numbers or service providers for a single device.

In some areas, data transfer speeds may be slower if two SIM cards are inserted in the device than when one SIM card is inserted.

Before you try out the below recommendations as to your solution, be sure to check if your device's software is updated with the latest version. Please check how to update your mobile device's software in the following order.

Step 1. Go to Settings > Software update.

Step 2. Tap on Download and install.

Step 3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 4. Restart your device.

How to add your mobile plan on your smartphone with eSIM

To add your mobile network plan on an eSIM, you can scan a QR code that your carrier provided or install a pre-assigned plan automatically. Before adding your plan, make sure your Galaxy smartphone is connected to a wi-fi or mobile data network.

Install a pre-assigned plan.

To activate an eSIM, follow the below steps.

Step 1. Launch Settings > Connections.

Step 2. Tap SIM card manager.

Step 3. Select Add mobile plan.

When a mobile plan is found, follow the on-screen instructions to activate the eSIM.

Scan a QR code

If you have a QR code provided by your service provider, follow the steps below.

Step 1. Launch Settings > Connections.

Step 2. Tap SIM card manager.

Step 3. Select Add mobile plan.

Step 4. Add using QR code, and then scan the QR code.

How to use or manage dual SIM cards.

Depending on your smartphone it will either come with a dual SIM or a single SIM tray. Dual SIM models allow you to use two SIM cards in one device. This is handy if you have separate phone numbers for work and home or if you would like to use a local number while keeping your original number active when in a foreign country.

Types of SIM card

Dual SIM card trays feature 2 SIM card slots, where a hybrid SIM tray features 1 SIM card slot and a hybrid slot. A hybrid slot can take either a second SIM card or a microSD card for expandable memory, giving you the flexibility to choose between a second SIM card or extra storage.

You can check by removing the SIM card tray and seeing how many slots it has and how the second slot is labeled, if it says SIM2 it's a dual SIM, if it says SIM2 microSD it's a hybrid.

Enable a second SIM card

You can have two numbers without carrying two phones. A Dual SIM  card allows you to manage your personal and business calls within the same phone so you don’t need to keep carrying two phones or switch between SIM cards.

1. Go to Settings > Connections > SIM card manager.

2. Tap the SIM card that you would like to enable.

3. Tap the switch to activate the SIM card.

4. Tap Name, enter the name that you would like to give that SIM card, then tap Done

Switch between SIM cards.

Once you have enabled both SIM cards, you can set up your preferred SIM card for calls, text messages, and mobile data.

Go to Settings > Connections > SIM card manager.

Choose your preferred SIM card for calls, text messages, and mobile data.
You can also set up call confirmation or Dual SIM always on.

When making a call choose which SIM to use by selecting one of the call buttons.

When Sending an SMS choose which SIM to use by selecting one of the send message buttons.

Dual SIM always on is meant for the two physical SIM slots. Since you have one eSIM you control it via the SIM manager and Mobile Networks sections. Since you did mention you see both active you should receive calls on both.
