Is there a setting to disable the auto download of files into Samsung Notes?

When I download files from the web I only want them to go to my device download folder, not to Samsung Notes.

Currently, I'm getting two versions of the same downloaded file. Annoying, as I'm constantly deleting the Samsung Notes version.

Hi @Anna64, that's strange. Is it possible that the documents are downloading to My Files and the documents are being read by Samsung Notes?

I suggest sending an error report within 2-3 minutes of the issue occurring for this to be investigated. Error reports are sent to our team to identify any deviations in your device performance, once analysed, our team will get back to you with a response to advise further.

To send an error report:

Samsung Members > Get help > Error reports > select issue category > describe issue and frequency > Tick ‘send system log data’ > Send in top right.

Thanks Laura. Will consider doing what you suggest. Firstly, I'll do a backup and then uninstall & reinstall Notes. Maybe that will fix it.

It's definitely not a read issue. Tested this by deleting a file in my device download folder. If it was a read issue, then I'd expect the file to no longer appear in Notes after doing this - it still does. Also tested it in reverse - same outcome.

Just an FYI, this isn't an intermittent prob, happen each time I download from web. Anyhow...😊

Hello, I have the same problem as everyone else. When I download file, it copies everything to note as well. And each time I go to look into that file in downloads, each time it copies.

And you subjected to go to samsung members/get help. But I don't have Get help there.... do I have to be consurned that my note 22 is fake ? Please help with both issues. Thanks

Hello @Maria1212

I am sorry to hear that you are having this issue. Based on what you have described. I suggest sending an error report within 2-3 minutes of the issue occurring for this to be investigated by our research and development team. Error reports assist with identifying any deviations in your device performance. Once analyzed, our team will get back to you with a response to advise further steps.

To send an error report:
Samsung Members app > Support > Error reports > select issue category > Describe issue and frequency > Tick ‘Send system log data’ > ‘Send’ in top right.

This is ridiculous tgat you are telling everyone to submit an error report.  This is happening to everyone and it is very frustrating.  It is from one of the updates that was released in the past few weeks.  Just fix it please and update this thread that it is acknowledged and the fix is being worked on.  That workaround does not work.

The exact same thing is happening with me using the Galaxy S22 ultra. It's very annoying and I can't find any way to prevent this. I end up having to delete so many duplicate files each time I open Notes.

Try go to Setting > default apps > Samsung Notes > Set as default > Clear defaults. So when you want to download files,it will ask you with which app you want to open and you can choose just once or always. It works on my  flip z 3. I don't have downloaded files anymore on my samsung notes. Hope it can help you.
