Samsung S20 white screen - common issues?

Help! Just wondering if white screen of death is a common issue among S20 or other Samsung phones? I saw a few threads with the same issue. Any solutions to resolve it? I visited Samsung service center at Vivo and was told that the cost to replace the screen is $280. Honestly, I am very disappointed with the quality of this phone. My phone is only 1.5 yrs old and without any damage. It started flickering suddenly and become unusable. Apparantly, the cost to replace the display of a S20 is the same as Samsung's trade in value for the same phone - $300. Can't help feeling being penalized by the brand sub par quality product. The customer representatives ain't very empathising either.

I had been a long standing customer of Samsung. I own a S2, S4, S7 (still working btw), tab 5e, tab 7, buds, active 2 watch, monitor, but this incident becomes a breaking point for me. The cost to repurchase a phone is not cheap and most telco only allow replacement every 2 years. Would like to check if the community have any recommendations of other phone brand that are more durable? Or what should I do now?

I have the same issue with my brother's phone first theres a flickering thing on the screen then suddenly white screen appeared we tried ALL the suggested ways in google/YouTube we even factory reset it  4x  still the flickering and white screen hasn't fix. So what will happen now Samsung?😭

Somehow, I can minimize this problem.

When the screen is white/flickering, I press power+down volume button..

Press both together until the screen is black, then it will restart with still white screen, then immediately I press power button until it solved...

Somehow it works several times...

May be you can give a try...

was using an s20 plus and this happened after I made a software update. Went to Samsung service centre and they told me that my phone was out of warranty and I had to pay $280 as well for the screen replacement. However, they upgraded me to an S20 ultra out of 'goodwill'. I've not made any software updates ever since just in case, and with time the software gets a bit janky and outdated with security issues.
Really disappointed with how they put the blame on customers and provide no explanation. Will be switching to IPhone 14 when it comes out.

Hi, I have the same issue back in Nov 22, the Green / White Screen of Death on my S20+. Did whatever i found online, soft-restart, change brightness, adaptive brightness but nothing helps screen stay white during unlock and green during charging.

Went to Plaza Sing and Vivo service center, both quoted me the same expensive price. Vivo outlet told me it is the Screen burn out issue. Asked them if it is common, as this issue can be found online with alot S20 users, mostly happen after and software update. They say they have not heard of this issue before and no directive from Samsung management on this. The person went into the room to check with their technical expert and came out saying confirm it is Screen Burn issue. They then advice me that it is not worth the repair and recommended me to get a new phone, they can provide me $150 (if i remember the amount correctly) voucher on the spot for the new phone. I did not take up the offer.

There is an update in the Dec 22. I plugged my phone to Dex and did the update, if i remember correct it is the One UI patch. After the update, immediately the phone returned to normal and i have been continue using it since then! Once in a blue moon, the green screen still came and go in split second. I keep my phone on always-on-display now.

So, if you have not update your phone, try updating and it might help. Hope this can help you.
