Why is Samsung not taking ownership of the display issue 'green horizontal lines' appearing on the Samsung phones post upgrade?

I had a Samsung S20+ which had the display issue of having 'green horizontal lines' across the screen. Samsung service center expert mentioned that this is common issue post software upgrades and since my phone is out of warrant, fixing the display will require ~300SG$. I thought instead of spending 300$ I would better replace it with the newer version S22+ which  was latest that time.

Now after 1.5 years just 6 month after the default warrant is over, same issue popped up on the new phone as well.
Again checking with the service center, got the same response that this is known issue post software upgrade and I will have to pay for the display replacement as phone is out of warranty.

What I dont understand is why is Samsung not taking the ownership of their software upgrade issues and why they want consumers to pay for the 'Un Tested' upgrade resulting in the issue!

Is this a bossiness idea so that people keep on spending 1000+ $$ every two years ?? I also have a iPhone, which is working seamlessly without any issues even after 5 years.

Personally I would never recommend anyone to use Samsung going forward after being a Samsung customer for multiple products over last 10 years!!

I have the same green line appear while browsing Facebook. Tried safe mode. Nothing removes it. Same thing happened to a family member only a few months ago. Phone shouldn't stop working just after the warranty ends. I'll be swapping to Google next phone I buy.

I have the same issue with my S20+.

Went to your Samsung  Centre in Sydney today and they mentioned it is not already covered under warranty.

Though the device is still less than 3 years old.

They quoted me $450 for screen and $66 for inspection. It's like buying a new phone!

I've shown to them samsung support reference number and my service reference number.

I'm disappointed on their service especially this is a flagship model of Samsung.

The unit is between 2-3 years old.

I've been with Samsung for a long time with multiple phones in the past and watch. Seems there quality had dropped a lot!

What do you expect? It's Samsung. They are putting out a faulty prodcut and expecting you to pay for the repairs

My S21 ultra got the green line yesterday. It is apparently a factory hardware problem. The unit has never been dropped or misused in any way. In Australia, I believe, Samsung must take responsibility for this factory fault and repair/replace the unit at no cost to the consummer - whether it is out of standard warranty or not. If it was a software problem they would surely have a fix by now, as it is so widespread. My partner and a friend are about to upgrade their smart phones. They both have Samsung and I will definately be vocal about not buying another one. Service centre for me tomorrow, hopefully they will admit responsibility without further recourse.

I have samsung user for many years. Upgrading from model to model. The no action from Samsung for the green line issue is really disappointing. My S21+ with green issue will probably the last Samsung phone I will be using.
