Yesterday morning, I updated my phone to One UI 6.1. Finally, got to experience the new battery protection. I selected Basic, which the expected behaviour is that the phone should stop charging once it reaches 100% and gradually discharges until 95%, then the charging will start again.

But I have tried with 3 charges already. With the Basic selection, my phone will remain charged at 100% and charging doesn't stop.

Looks like this feature is not optimised for older models. I am wondering if this feature is working for newer models like S24 or S23 series, or even for Z Fold 5? Appreciate if you could share your experiences. Thanks. 😊

Same.. but the only way that u can tell that Basic protection is actually working, by turning off protect battery feature while charging at 100%, it will show fully charged with green battery icon. Then u turn on basic battery protection and u will see the fully charged with green battery icon will change to 100% with white battery icon.

But we both know that the 100% will never drop to 99% and has never dropped to 99% before. As opposed to the expected behaviour of battery charging should stop charging once it turns 100% and charge again if the battery drops to 95% while the phone is still plugged on to the charger.

It seems that it won't drop below 100% no matter what. Not sure why they advertised as charging will stop completely at 100% and resume charging again when it drops to 95%. So far, it has never happened for me.
