Facebook should fix their Messenger App, it's taking up almost 20% of my battery the other day in just under an hour. Even when not using the app, it's still consuming the battery.

Have you tried to clearing cache/data? Or maybe even uninstall then reinstall?

Hello KyleKyle,

Thanks for letting us know here about the battery drain caused by an messenger app on your Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. I feel and understand what you are going through, expecting your device to work normal and whenever you've encounter difficulty, you begin to worry.

Before you try out the below recommendations as to your solution, be sure to check if your device's software is updated with the latest version. Please check how to update your mobile device's software in the following order.

Step 1. Go to Settings > Software update.

Step 2. Tap on Download and install

Step 3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

You can customize the auto optimization feature to adjust when it will run and whether or not it will close your background apps.

Step 1. Go to 'Settings' then select 'Battery and device care'

Step 2. Tap More options (three dots)

Step 3. Tap ‘Automation’

With the Device care feature, you can optimize the performance of your smartphone and check the status of the battery, storage, memory, etc. When you open Battery and device care, your phone will run a diagnostic check and give you a score out of 100. The higher your score is, the better optimized your device is.

Keep Messenger app in sleep or deep sleep.

Step 1. Go to ‘Background usage limits' in Battery.

Step 2. Select 'Sleeping apps' or 'Deep sleeping apps'.

Step 3. Tap '+' and select Messenger apps you want in sleep status, then tap 'Add' once again.
