I just found out this morning when I tried to use one command, so I summoned Bixby to check on my list. Here's what it said:

Usually, when I say "battery", Bixby would say the battery level of the device. But now, it asked me to unlock the phone so it can show me the battery monitoring page. So I said "quick commands" it said that's not supported. I really use it extensively. I've got a lot of quick commands and some of my routines are tied to them.

I thought maybe this time, Bixby is smarter. So I asked Bixby why quick commands isn't supported. Guess what it said:

This is so disappointing. I thought maybe Samsung replaced quick commands with something else - perhaps a new feature in routines, but no, they just removed it and that's it. I use it to connect to Bluetooth device, adjust volume, brightness, activate DND, autoreject calls etc what the h.. Samsung...

Now the Bixby pop-up is worse than Google Assistant - it just won't go away unless I tap the screen.

What's this for?

It's either not working as intended, or perhaps i was expecting it to work differently.

When I say "dismiss yourself" to Google Assistant, it just shuts up and goes away.

Oh please please please tell me they're just working on compatibility etc and quick commands will come back - or they're working on something better. Like a voice control that they have in the camera app or the clock that doesn't depend on Bixby or the internet.

Proof I've used this feature:

At least they've added this feature I mentioned about 2 years ago:
It just needs some polishing.

Update February 7 2025

They will make an adjustment to bixby routines come OneUI7:

Now i just wish we can create unlimited (or depending on the device storage capacity) number of routines.

Hi samsung. I got your s24 ultra guys. I was happy with quick commands but you've ruined my happiness. Please bring it back. It's functional and does no harm to no one.

As a relatively new S24 user, I was very excited to set up this feature today, only to see it was removed! Why?! There is absolutely no point to a voice assistant for me in that case - Quick Commands would have been my go-to to use hands free calling, as none of my contacts have English names and require Quick Commands to be able to call the right person. Please bring this feature back.

If you want Bixby to do a single action, you can use a manual routine. It works almost like the quick commands feature in a sense that you can say one thing but mean another.

But in routines, you only get to use the "ask Bixby" capsule once per routine.

Currently, there's no dedicated capsule for calling a specific person yet. So in this example i used the "ask Bixby" capsule. 1736465666565.jpg

Also, filling out some details in each contact can be helpful. Asking Bixby to call a nickname is proven effective on my end. You may also use the job description but sometimes it doesn't work or maybe it takes a while for Bixby to be familiar with it after setting that field in contacts app. 20250110_073808_1000023933_1736465888.jpg20250110_074257_1000023936_1736466177.jpg20250110_074902_1000023939_1736466542.jpg20250110_075700_1000023942_1736467020.jpg
