I had my S24 Ultra repaired at a service center for this small damage on the screen. I went through hell with the entire process, and they took over 8 days "repairing" my phone and returning it to me.

My phone's small screen damage

I indicated on my request description that I only wanted to get these small damages on the screen fixed. When I got the phone and the receipt, I saw that they replaced the whole thing, and even the metal frames of the phone, which I'm thinking, was that really necessary?

If I didn't have Samsung Care+, I would've had to pay 14k Php.

If it's not really necessary, then I assume that the service center was maximizing their profit with my insurance. (SC+)

And then, I realized that there's a new problem with the phone when it got returned. It didn't have the issue before I sent it for repair.

My Microphone 2 is broken. It can't record anything properly but static crackling noises. I also hear a faint sound from the mic when I shake my phone.

I don't want this anymore. I've gone through a lot of stress, frustrations, and anxiety trying to deal with Samsung's customer service. I don't want to send back my phone to their service center anymore. I want a full refund. Purchasing this phone has given me more stress than any good feeling.

I wrote a 2000 word essay on my whole experience dealing with their CS. I had it saved here on Google Docs in case it gets lost:

I'm constantly updating the document as I go through more of the process.

I already sent an email to SC+ regarding the new issue, but it's currently Holy Week, and they said that they'll have slow operations and will return by Monday.

Can I still get a refund for my phone even if it's more than 30 days since the purchase? I pre-ordered the phone from Electroworld for the reclining chair freebie. Would I also have to return it?

I don't want anything Samsung anymore.

Really sorry to hear about your experience. But if that would be your decision, better to discuss it with Electroworld since you purchased it with them. They might have a different rules when it comes to return policy.

The front glass (by Corning), the display with the ribbon, and the metal frame and some other small parts are supplied assembled together (one assembly).

all they do in the shop usually, is take the back glass, and transfer the other internal parts to the new front assembly.

it would take more effort (and perhaps labor cost) to separate the front glass-display assy from the old frame then clean and reuse the frame and just replace the front glass and display (that can't be separated).

either way they will still need to remove the back cover and some internal parts of the device to disconnect the front glass-display-metal frame assy before separating the metal frame from the front glass-display assy.

the price of the metal frame is so small compared to the front screen and the display. reusing your old metal frame won't give you big discount. you might end up giving away that "discount" or paying more for labor.

14k is cheaper now compared to 20k on Note20 ultra back then because of flat displays.

so taking the phone to the shop for minor scratch or nick or dent isn't necessary unless you want your device to always look new.

but in case of the mic, I believe that shouldn't be a problem if proper quality check were done before returning the phone to service. the faint sound could also be just the camera OIS (that's normal). I'm sorry though that you had to go through this.

I know full well that I can't return this and get a refund anymore. I'm just super frustrated that I think, if I could go back, I'd never choose Samsung ever again. I've already regretted getting a samsung phone before, and I still do now. Tbh I also set too high of expectations when I bought this phone since it's super expensive. Way more expensive than my gaming laptop where I do everything.

hi, I just found out - Samsung seems to have introduced eco-conscious-repair - the damaged part should be the only part replaced, not the whole assembly to help slow down e-waste.

if you want to talk to them about your case, you can try here:

I remember this article while I was scrambling for information for getting my phone repaired before. Also, thanks for your help in getting my issue noticed by more people from Samsung. Somehow, they seem to be prioritizing my phone now. "Samsung Customer Service Director" called me, and they even sent the rider way earlier than the time I said I'll be available, lol.
