OthersSamsung has announced SmartThings Labs, a feature within the SmartThings app that lets users get early access to new features before they are officially released. Think of it as a beta program of some sort.
The program is available only in the US for now and offers 8 experimental features that include a “Universal Remote Control” for your supported devices, “Gentle Wake-up” which slowly turns on the lights thus simulating a sunrise experience as you wake, and “Turn It Off When I Leave” which turns off lights and other devices when no motion is detected in your home.
Samsung’s aim for SmartThings Labs is to get feedback on new features before rolling them out to everyone else. Below are the steps to access the program:
- Tap the menu bar on SmartThings app
- Select SmartApps
- Select SmartThings Labs
Engadget reports that Samsung says it will add more features in the coming months including its Upcycling At Home program that allows old Samsung Galaxy devices to be turned into cameras and a baby monitor.
