Does anyone know what the Android System Webview actually does and what it is for and is it important to keep it updated and if so, why. I have never kept mine updated because I don't know what it does.

Android WebView is a system component powered by Chrome that allows Android apps to display web content. This component is pre-installed on your device and should be kept up to date to ensure you have the latest security updates and other bug fixes.

You've given me the generic definition that is on the playstore on both posts of my questions. I wouldn't ask what it is for if I understood the generic description on the playstore.
