are you looking for things like read receipts and typing indicators? I would recommend trying out Google messages. I love it and they have a beta you can join as well to test news features. Overall it runs better and is consistently updated with new features. plus with Sprint you get all the chat features. Google assistant is built in as well and can be very helpful.
