Hi all,

Has anyone managed to disable camera post-processing/photo "enhancement" which samsung automatically does? Or at least recover the original photos captured?

This past month I purchased a Galaxy S23 ultra and every time I capture am image in 50mp or 200mp, Samsung automatically post-processes the image.

I was disappointed to see the photo I thought I had captured of my newborn neice ended up being different in the gallery after a couple of minutes.

Different being, oversaturated, highly contrasted and just not realistic. I cannot find a way to recover/revert to the original image. These are in my opinion, memories destroyed.

It's unfortunate. This feature severely degrades photos with no aesthetic enhancement. There aren't many contexts, (maybe inanimate objects in dull environments) which this feature works. Not even sunsets.

I've tried contacting Samsung directly for help, with no response. So am turning to the community.

Appreciate any insight.

Data cleared at the start of my trouble shooting process, along with checking relevant phone updates etc.

As stated in original post, I capture in 50mp and 200mp both with the same issue. These are my preferred quality capture modes.

I do not like the quality of and will not use normal mode - so I'm not bothered by how long processing time takes with this.

There you have it. Those modes have hdr issues as far as I know. Give Expert Raw a try for 50mp mode

Yes this exactly per my initial post. It's the very issues I was hoping there would be a work around. Yes this is the samsung reddit consensus which is why I posted here for more insight.

Expert raw is what I've been settling with for now, it's just tinkering to have a decent photo per individual shot is not what I had in store for a flagship phone price.

Hi! Just wanna update you on this. One UI 6 is coming in a month or so. I have got Beta for it on my G S22 Ultra. There is an option in camera settings where you will be able to select quality optimization from minimum to maximum. Hopefully that would fix your problemScreenshot_20230926_174021_Camera.jpg

Having same problem newly bought s23+ images caputred at 50mp destroyed by refining, totally different than reality and too SOFTNESS AND BLURRY than... Cannot to turn off tried everything but loading spinner is there and doing troubles, this should be DISABLED by default. This just making good cameras hardware to became bad!

p.s. in pro mode captured photos looks too dark on shadows etc..its hard to set it for normal capturing... anyway this refining should be removed from normal photo mode totally!

I hear you and completely agree! It is really disappointing to pay so much for quality specs and only to be ruined with auto processing.

Even taking photos of people there are over saturated orange splotches on their skin (where highlights would occur naturally).

For the price point we shouldn't have to navigate pro mode (some moments are too quick to fuss around this) we're paying for the convenience of a smart phone with high specs so deserve more options around disabling this!

Still waiting on the day Samsung releases an update to bypass this. I'll come back to you if this happens or if I find a workaround.

Yes and not to mention when u capture the WHITE WALL indoor, you get YELLOW-ORANGE Wall from 70'-80's. This should be totally removed and just after capturing to do simple pixel normalizing and that is all, NOT: adding contrast, new vivid colors, adding saturation, adding softness and blurry...

Thanks! I hope they will solve this ASAP. I compared with iphone 11 capturing photos and i was ashamed last week that 3-5x more expensive phone have these tricks that are only good maybe for 12% influencers and not for other 88% normal peoples buyers. The 50MP is useless I am not using that at all because of this problem! This is not normal refining just like pixel normalization etc this is totally changing all parts on captured image it noot look the same like reality totally different picture with new colors, and what is more worse it loose the sharpness then because of too blurr and softness that became like on some not premium phones...

Yeah this 'issue' is a 'feature' baked into the firmware now. I cannot believe that years into this problem, NOTHING has been done. This AI post processing is a joke. The only way forward is a different phone, from a different company. Three years and they still haven't addressed this issue. Bye samsung, it's been fun... but you've ruined what used to be your best feature. NO ONE WANTS UR AI SLOP SAMSUNG. NO ONE. Gonna buy a RedMagic next year, I'm done with these overpriced, ai slop, stubborn, ignorant company.
