You are guaranteed 2 years of Major Android OS Updates. You started with Android 10, and then were updated to Android 11 One UI 3 and the upcoming Android 12 One UI 4 may be your last OS Upgrade. A monthly security patch may still be delivered to you in quarterly or bi-annual updates, up to the third year.
A monthly security patch isn't a major OS Upgrade. A version change of Android is one you can call a major one (eg; Android 11 to Android 12). Flagships may receive almost 12 updates or more updates a year just because of the monthly security patches. Midrange smartphones on the other hand may receive this monthly security patch in a monthly or quarterly style.
