Hello chisaina08,

We are sorry to hear about your experience with your Samsung Galaxy phone having issues with the audio and microphone while on a call using Facebook or phone, and we apologize for the inconvenience it caused you.

If you’re having audio and microphone issues on a Samsung phone,  you may hear a crackling noise, or sounds may be unclear in your recordings if the microphone is having problems. Try to check if this is a hardware, software-related problem or if it’s only happening with a particular application.

Be sure to check if your device's software and related apps (Facebook or Messenger) are updated with the latest version. Please check how to update your mobile device's software in the following order.

Step 1. Go to Settings > Software update.

Step 2. Tap on Download and install.

Step 3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 4. Restart your device.

If that doesn't fix the issues, please try below troubleshooting steps.

Remove external devices.

Remove all accessories

Remove anything plugged into the headphone jack, including selfie sticks, etc as well as any attached phone cases. Additionally, remove any third-party cases, protective films, skins, adhesives, or any other accessory that usually comes in contact with your phone.

 Clean your phone's microphone

The phone may not be able to recognize your voice well if the microphone hole is blocked by foreign objects such as an attachable protective cover or a protective vinyl placed on the phone before purchase. The microphone is located at the bottom of your phone. Make sure that no foreign matter is blocking the microphone hole and try again after removing anything you find.

Check Bluetooth connections.

Your phone's audio might be redirected if your phone is connected via Bluetooth to your wireless headphones or a wireless speaker.

Go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth.

If your phone is connected to another device via Bluetooth, the audio might be playing through the other device.

Check the audio recording.

Record something

Once the phone finishes booting up, use the Voice Recorder or Camera to record a short clip with audio.

Play the recording

Playback the clip to see if the issue has been resolved. If the recording quality is fine, your microphone is working normally and one of the connected accessories or recently downloaded apps may be causing the issue.

Start your phone in Safe mode.

Try using the microphone in safe mode. If there is no problem in Safe Mode, it may be a problem caused by an installed third-party app on your phone. To find which app is causing the issue, you can try uninstalling the apps in the order of the last installation.

Step 1. Open Quick settings. Tap the Power icon at the top of the screen.

Step 2. Touch and hold Power off until the Safe mode icon is displayed.

Step 3. Tap Safe mode. If you've entered Safe mode successfully, you will see Safe mode displayed at the bottom of the screen.

If the device works in safe mode, an app is most likely causing your issue. Remove recently downloaded apps one by one until the problem is fixed. If the problem persists when your device is running in Safe mode, the problem might not be related to an app.

To exit safe mode, restart your device.

If that doesn't fix the problem, you may submit an error report through the Samsung Members app as follows:

Step 1. Long press Samsung Members icon on Apps screen and tap Error reports.

Step 2. Tap OK on agreement popup to send system log data.

Step 3. Select Symptom category "Sounds/Vibrations".

Step 4. Describe the problem in details and SEND.
