Galaxy Tab S2 - SM-T810 Won't Unlock

Greetings all,

I'm having a peculiar problem with my Samsung tablet I've been using for years. My fingerprint wasn't being recognised, so I entered my backup password. I went into security settings, deleted my fingerprints, and scanned it anew. The tablet still wouldn't recognise my fingerprint. So, I went to security options in order to switch off fingerprint recognition (hoping that would fix it), and the tablet prompted me to enter a new backup password. I didn't want to change my old password, so I entered the same backup password. But now it won't recognise my backup password! Luckily, it recognised my fingerprint (once), but I was unable to change settings because of my password not being recognised. So, when the screen locked again, I tried my fingerprint which wouldn't work, so now I am prompted to enter my backup password, which the tablet says is incorrect. Thus, I am locked out!

When trying to log in through my Google account, it won't even recognise that (even though I can log into my Google account on a laptop, and even find my device). What has caused this infuriating dilemma? Samsung's 'find my device' doesn't register my tablet; and Google 'find my device' only allows me to 'secure' the tablet, not unlock it.

Can anyone offer assistance? Hard reset must be avoided at all costs!

Many thanks to all.

Paul

Hey Paul,

Could it be that you're entering your password incorrectly - maybe a wrong character or two?

Your friends at your nearest Samsung Experience Store will also be able to help you out. Find one near you with https://www.samsung.com/ph/storelocator/

Hope this helps!

I will try cache partition - is that an option in recovery mode?

No, I've tried the password many times. I have considered that when changing backup password my finger may have slipped, but with password confirmation, how can the exact same mistake occur twice - very unlikely?

Thanks,

Paul

Hello, again.

I have tried wiping the cache partition, but that did not solve the problem. Does anyone have any insight as to what has occurred? Or any other options or advice?

Thanks,

Paul
