Hi folks, hoping someone can help.

I have a Galaxy S9+ phone and Galaxy S7+ tablet (5G enabled but no plan or sim inserted currently).

I want to USB tether the internet from the phone to use on the tablet, because I have a bunch of data I never use on the phone plan, and don't need a separate number etc for the tablet.

WIFI hotspot works fine, but will chew up battery.

USB cable connection works for charging and data transfer (files) but not internet tethering.

I've tried three different usb-c cables, including one that supported 10gbps transfer. None of them work for internet tethering.

Is there a particular cable that is known to work, or some hidden setting that doesn't feature in any of the guides easily accessible on the internet?

Thank you

I think you might have to enable developer settings in order to do that.

Thanks, I'll try that on the tablet. The phone says it is sharing internet over usb, both devices say charging is happening, and data (files) can be shared. There's just no internet connection on the tablet.

Sadly it didn't work, though I'm not sure which developer setting would enable this. I allowed usb debugging and set the default usb mode to tethering.
