Tab S7+ USB connection off and on

Tab S7+ developed an error where it is constantly switching off and on the USB connection even when no connection is in place at all. 

I've tried brushing the USB connection and wiping it to clear any debris or corrosion. 

Done several hard restarts and uninstalled recent apps in case they might have caused the error.

Anyone know the next steps to get this working properly again?

Update: I did a big clean out of the USB and was able to recharge for a while but the problem kicked off again... Anyone have a better fix? Could this be a software issue?

Update, a restart of the device stops the annoying USB connection messages... Would a factory reset be of use? Don't want to waste my time if it's not useful.
