Restoring Via The Gallery App (OS 10 & Below)

Accidentally deleted photos of videos in your Gallery and want to restore them?  Or perhaps you accidentally deleted your favourite Ringtone via the My Files app? Don't stress, you can easily restore them from your Recycling Bin. Just make sure you restore your files within 30 days otherwise the will be permanently removed from your Samsung Phone or Tablet. Follow the below guide to learn how to activate and use your Recycling Bin.

Please Note: This guide is designed for Australian variant Galaxy devices, if you have an international device and require further support click here to get in touch with your Samsung subsidiary. 

1. Launch the Gallery app

2. Long press the photos or videos you would like to move to your Recycling Bin then tap on Delete

3. Tap on Move to Recycling bin

4. Once deleted the images will be stored within the Recycling bin for 30 days.

If you want to restore the photos or videos simply tap on the three (3) dots (see image below).

5. Select Recycling bin

6. Tap on a photo or video you would like to restore back to your Gallery

to restore the file

8. If you would like to restore multiple photos or videos, long press an image to select and choose other files. Once you have selected the images or videos tap on Restore.

Hi @Becb, did you back them up to any sort of cloud such as Google Photos? 

In some cases, people may accidentally enable an option to delete photos from internal storage after a backup.

nope. I didn't know I had to. I was clearing up some photos and as I was transferring them to new folder I must've hit delete. When I tried to restore them they vanished and spent hours till 2am trying to work out ways to try and get them back with no luck

Hi @Becb, was this using the Gallery app? Are you able to try

  1. Open Gallery app > ☰ 
  2. Select Trash > tap Edit.
  3. Select photos you want to restore > tap Restore.
