So, Samsung push a firmware update to my TV, which has now introduced a redesigned Freeview menu bar whenever i change channel. This update has also introducing a issue, resulting in the previous channel button not working as expected. Previous to the update, i could be watching channel 70, then navigate to channel 30 and then click the previous channel button to go back to channel 70 (instantly). Now the previous channel button will not work to navigate me back to the previous channel  was watching.

I use both Previous channel AND Freeview A LOT. The tech advised, If i want my previous channel button to work, i have to deactivate the Hbbtv feature, which disables Freeview. This is not a solution for me.. I paid for a TV with both, and would like to use them as i purchased them.

They are now advising me to https://www.freeview.com.au/support to find the solution... How is this helpful? If you work in a role that offers support, and you are advising that there is a solution on aa vendors site, do some research and provide the solution... The above link is like providing the link to google.com and saying search here...

Hi @mikkaat, we're sorry to hear that you are frustrated by this. Unfortunately, this Freeview menu bar update was a change made by HbbTV directly, and so we are unable to change the way that it functions on our televisions.

As such, we have advised you and other customers to direct your concerns to Freeview's support team, as we are only able to provide the temporary fix of disabling Hbbtv.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to let us know.

So, what you are saying, is that Samsung allows third parties to place and/or update software on a Samsung device without Samsung even verifying the code, or testing in any way?

Given that the update was made and obviously not reviewed or tested by Samsung, would it not be a viable and wise solution to either:

A. Work with Freeview to rectify the issue, or

B. Resolve the issue through Samsung developers (and push an update to either the remote or to the tv), given that you could very easily find the root cause of the issue

I don't think it takes a genius to work out that people have spent their hard earned money on a Samsung product, and would like to know that SOMEONE is working on resolving the issue instead of providing a workaround that disables a major function of the product.

In stating the above, disabling hbbtv IS NOT A SOLUTION. It is a workaround which causes more problems.

Hi @mikaat, we can understand your frustrations. However, Freeview is an industry run service for all internet-connected televisions and set-top boxes, and this update was made by Freeview for their services on all televisions.

As such, any concerns with this need to be raised with Freeview's support team.

We have thus provided the temporary solution of disabling HbbTV. However, we can understand that you would like to keep using Freeview, so a way to return to the previous channel with your remote is:

- After changing channels and the Freeview Bar appears, wait 5-10 seconds for it to disappear > Press and hold Return for 5 seconds to stop the Freeview function of the button > Press Return again and this will take you back to the previous channel.

Thank you.
