In short, as long as the WiFi module is inactive, the TV does not enter standby mode. Just turn WiFi on. You don't have to connect to a WiFi network. For example, I have a wired ethernet connection to my S95B TV but the wireless option is on but not configured.

Your TV is not going into Standby mode if you see the Knox logo and the icon of a house when turning on the TV. This means the TV is rebooting (cold boot) from a full shutdown.

The screen optimisation cannot run in a full shutdown mode, and you will see that pesky Screen Optimisation message every time.

The solution is to turn on WiFi (even if you have it hard wired)

General Options -> Connection -> Network -> Expert Configuration

  • enable WiFi
  • Optional
    • enable “Power on through mobile devices”
    • enable Apple Air Play (on)

Hopefully with the WiFi setting turned on now, the TV will go into Standby mode.

Test it by turning on the TV – you should NOT see the knox logo and the shaking house icon on boot up. Moreover, the TV should boot up into a lot quicker now.

Now leaving the TV off in Standby for ~ 4hours, should let the Screen Optimiser do it’s thing, and hopefully no more annoying pop up messages.

This might even work for the S95C or other Samsung TV models.
