Galaxy buds pro 2 sound like I'm underwater/ people can't hear me clearly

My buds are just shy of 24 months old. Just sent them off for repair. They have blamed ear wax, and I will be charged for repair. 

I can see others having issues on reddit and here starting at 2 weeks. 

Any recommendations on what I can do?
