Hi all, I've just got a galaxy watch6. I bought it mainly for its fall-detection feature, to summon help if I have a serious fall.
Its paired with my Samsung S23 phone, via Bluetooth. I like to switch my phone off, or put it into airplane mode, at times to save on battery usage. If I do either of these things, will my watch still be able to summon help if I have a fall, or does my phone need to be on 24X7?

Thanks!

Pretty sure if you have a non-LTE model, your watch won't be able to call 000. On LTE models you can make calls directly on the watch, without your phone. Powersave mode is a good option to preserve your battery as suggested by JoshF.

Hi Mickseth,

As Josh and Woody mentioned above - as you have a Bluetooth model, you will need to have your phone on and within close proximity for you to be able to make calls from the watch.

Powersave mode is a good option as it'll reduce the power usage on your device so the battery lasts longer. You can access this from the quick access menu by swiping down from the top of your phone to bring up the settings. The icon is a battery with a leaf in the middle with text "Power saving" beneath it. Tap it to turn it on and it'll be active.

Thanks,

Thanks so much to all who responded. I must've had a brain fart when I asked if help could be summoned if my phone was off lol. Of course it would need to be on to send SOS type messages, etc.
Must be old age...😂😂
