How do I find if I have a spy application? Or determine if I have have an app on my device that is sharing my location, texts, basically mirroring my information to a separate device?

You can always check the battery sittings to see the running apps. Check also the permission to see what apps access your location, sms, calls, etc. Maybe check also the which apps enabled in device admin.
But when in doubt, always do factory reset (unless the culprit istalled it as system app).

Sorry got you confused. System app means those applications that built in to the phone that you can't uninstall like calendar, clock etc. So even if you format your phone, but the culprit installed the spyware apps as system apps, you cannot remove it. One example of this app is Cerberus (you can google this for more info). But this apps are not easy to install as system app, it will require to root your phone. Anyway I'm going technical now sorry.
Just look for running apps in your battery settings or permission settings, if you see any apps that you don't think you install yourself, then remove it. But still best approach is to format if you are really in doubt that someone is spying your phone.
