Samsung's One UI 8, based on Android 16, introduces updates to memory management, particularly with the RAM Plus feature, which uses internal storage as virtual memory to enhance app performance.

RAM Plus in One UI 8

One UI 8 increases the RAM Plus virtual memory limit beyond the previous 8GB cap.

A new 12GB option is available on devices like the Galaxy Z Flip 6/7, but this is likely limited to devices with more than 8GB of physical RAM.

🥹 Devices with 8GB or less physical RAM may not support the 12GB RAM Plus option.

Samsung Users can find the RAM Plus feature continued in One UI 8 via Settings > Device Care > Memory > RAM Plus, where you can toggle it Off or On, even select virtual memory amounts (e.g., 2GB, 4GB, 6GB, 8GB, or 12GB, depending on the device).

🥹 Disabling RAM Plus can free up insufficient storage and potentially improve performance on the device in some cases.

️ I recommend one keep it on, adding to the 8GB or 12GB of physical memory, minus 1GB reserved for core services.

🥰 The feature aims to allow more apps to run in the background, improving multitasking (keeps things running smoothly).

Device Eligibility

One UI 8, with its RAM Plus enhancements, is available on devices like the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, Z Flip 7 FE, Galaxy S25 series, S24 series, S23 series, S22 series, Z Fold/Flip 6/5/4, Tab S10/S9/S8, and select A-series models like the A55 and A56.

🥹 The Galaxy S21 series may not be eligible, due to Samsung’s software support window, but the S21 FE is included.

Memory Management Improvements

🥰 One UI 8 focuses on smoother animations and app design tweaks, which may leverage Galaxy AI for better RAM management.

The ability to customise virtual memory remains a key feature, allowing users to balance storage and performance based on their needs.

Thank you. 🙏

If, one was to turn off zRAM Plus, the physical RAM usage will be the same.

zRAM Plus operates a isolated background process for applications.

Thus freeing up resource in everyday system responce and function.

Apple Eaters are deeply integrated into their ecosystem, relying on Overclocked core services to complete, that often face instability, necessitating frequent updates or solutions to maintain optimal performance.
