Hi,
So, I just tried to access "Samsung Secure Folder" for the first time. On the welcome page it offers "Maintain your privacy β Keep sensitive data and content in a separate, protected area on your phone". Before I could continue, however, I first had to agree to the terms and conditions. First paragraph:
"YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT THIRD PARTY SERVICES ADVERTISEMENTS (GENERAL AND CUSTOMISED), AND/OR CONTENT MAY ALSO BE PROVIDED TO YOU THROUGH SECURE FOLDER AND THAT IT MAY REQUIRE THE USE OF YOUR NETWORK DATA. YOU FURTHER ACCEPT THAT SAMSUNG MAY PRESENT ADVERTISEMENTS AND OFFERS FROM THIRD PARTIES IN SECURE FOLDER".
Translation: "you acknowledge and agree that Samsung Secure Folder is just the name of the folder β it is neither private nor secure. And by YOUR data we mean OUR data".
Under the pretence of giving you a place to store "your most sensitive and most private" data, they've created a data mining SUPER folder. Why track someone all over the internet when they can just create a place where you can bring all the most important information straight to them? It's a genius (yet sleazy) move considering most people don't read the terms and conditions.
Is it too much to ask for a SINGLE folder, space, or minute, in which we aren't being surveilled? Or marketed to? Can we just have ONE folder, space, or minute that we can call our own? It's been two weeks now since getting my s25, and I've spent that entire time uninstalling your apps, and replacing them one by one with ACTUAL private, secure and encrypted apps. It's just exhausting π«©.

Tbf, it doesn't say it'll use your data to show you ads. It just says it'll show you ads. But I've used secure folder and haven't really seen any ads. I wonder if it's a general tnc just to cover their ***. Eg, the tnc for the security scanner used to say they'll use your data, etcetera. But it's recently been updated to actually say it's just for security scans, and that's it; which is good to know.
