After doing the recent system upgrade in mid Aug, within days, my A52 stopped charging properly. Sometimes it would, then it wouldn't ... the battery icon was flashing, but not showing as charging.

I contacted Samsung & they asked a bunch of questions & I jumped thru some hoops re doing things they asked - they said they were accelerating it to a technician to 'solve' and they would call me.  They never did call me.

The Battery info indicated that it was charging, but the zigzag on the battery icon wasn't showing and it definitely was not charging.
I then got a message saying the phone was too cold or too hot to charge. I was not in a cold place - and the phone was not hot or in a hot room/area.
I sat on the phone to warm it up & it started charging - for a week .. then it stopped charging altogether.
I've tested it with all different chargers in my house & other's houses.
It is now dead.  I've had to put my sim card into an old iphone so that I still have communications.

I am guessing it is a software issue to do with the system upgrade.  I don't have an authorised centre nearby as I live in a rural town.

Has this happened to anyone else, irrelevant of the Samsung model?

The phone is only 3 years old and I am very disappointed that this has happened.

What do I do now?

More info - Samsung has told me to upload the Samsung Members App and to send a diagnostic data report to their technicians ....

However, Samsung Members App isn't available on my Mac computer at all. Plus, I can't download it on the Samsung phone as it is dead - so I can't do the diagnostic data thing or seemingly book it in for a repair, without sending the report. :(

I've asked for a technician to call me - as I was told would happen 4 weeks ago.

Hi @Members_BrS6mtZ,

Sorry to hear that you've been experiencing this.

The message that you are getting about your device temperature ("I then got a message saying the phone was too cold or too hot to charge. I was not in a cold place - and the phone was not hot or in a hot room/area." ) is indicating that the issue relates to your battery or charging port.

We would recommend that you take your device to an Authorised Service Centre, and if that is not possible as you mentioned that you live in a rural town, we also have an option to send your device in for repair via AusPost.

Steps on how to do this can be found in the link below:

Please let us know if you need any further assistance.

Warm regards,

I don't live anywhere near a service centre and the Samsung technician that was supposed to contact me in early August, didn't - so in late Sept I took the phone to a local phone technician who confirmed the battery & charging ports are OK.
I finally got the Members App test to work & it clearly showed 3 areas of the phone not working. I sent that to Samsung.
In Nov, After a lengthy session on the phone with Samsung where they 'took control' the phone and still couldn't fix the problem  ... they finally sent a label to send to the Service Centre.
They now claim the phone was damaged by me (when the battery & charging port was checked) and it is no longer covered by any warranty - even tho the problem was obviously caused by software update.
I am disgusted with the way this fault has been handled by Samsung.
I am now in a dispute with Samsung - as it is obvious that their 'chain of command' from my first phone call in early Aug (and my many followup messages to them on Messenger) has taken well over 3 months to get the phone to Sydney .... and I am still without my phone.
All my calls to Samsung will have been logged ... as are my messages via Messenger, including a video of the battery icon flashing & the phone not charging, in Aug.
I can tell you now that I will never buy a Samsung product again :(
